The world is dead, devoured by a plague of reanimated corpses.
Cahz and his squad of veteran soldiers are tasked with flying into abandoned cities and retrieving zombies for scientific study. Deep in infected territory, hundreds of miles from their support vessel, the ever present dangers weigh heavily on Cahz’s mind as he shepherds his team to make quick, clean extractions.
Then the unbelievable happens. After years of encountering nothing but the undead, the team discovers a handful of dishevelled survivors in a fortified warehouse with dwindling supplies.
Surrounded by hordes of ravenous corpses, Cahz is faced with the terrible responsibility of determining the five passengers who will escape in the helicopter. While those left stranded must continue to fight off the infected and starvation long enough to be rescued.

"A harrowing and breathless flight through an Undead world so gleefully realised that you can almost smell the decay - this is a zombie novel which will satisfy even the most bloodthirsty fan of the undead."
David Moody
author of the Hater and Autumn series of novels.
"Remains of the Dead is yet another great zombie story with a Euro vibe. McKinnon illuminates the dark horror of the zombie apocalypse with the eloquence of the masters of UK literature."
Bowie V. Ibarra
author of the "Down the Road" zombie horror series
"Iain McKinnon’s Remains of the Dead is absolutely superb. This may be one of the scariest zombie books I’ve ever read. There are scenes in here, especially with Ali up on the roof, so intense they left me stunned. McKinnon has got a truly crazy talent. Remains of the Dead is tough as nails, defiant to the end, and the kind of book that reminds post-apocalyptic fans why we love the genre so. You’ve got to treat yourself to this book."
Joe McKinney
author of Dead City and Apocalypse of the Dead
"Iain McKinnon writes about zombies in the classic mold of George Romero’s Day of the Dead, following the fate of a group of stranded soldiers and civilians as they battle for survival against a population of flesh-starved ghouls. The
story is deliberately narrow in scope, beginning well after the zombie apocalypse and focusing tightly on its small
stage, but McKinnon’s strong writing, enthusiasm for head-busting action, and military know-how give the tale a
you-are-there jolt of realism. Sure to please fans of The Walking Dead.”
Walter Greatshell
author of Xombies
"I have to say that McKinnon turns the intensity up a notch in this, the second book in his series. The constant race against the undead, the desperate measures taken to survive at every turn, and the solid character development make this tale both a fun and invigorating read in the zombie genre. "
Patrick D'Orazio
author of Comes the Dark
"Remains of the Dead hits dry land with an all-out sprint. Action-packed is not the word."
